Obama Wins The Nobel Peace Prize & Acknowledges The Protesters in Iran- Your Response?
This morning, the world woke up to the news that US President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. Whether or not you are a supporter of President Obama or a US citizen who voted for him- you have an opinion on the way he has dealt with Iran since his inauguration.
If you’re anything like my facebook friends- you’ve got opinions and you’ve got lots of them. I have friends who are extremely liberal to ultra-conservative to pretty indifferent about politics in general. If you’re reading this post, we all have something in common- a love and interest for Iran.
In Obama’s acceptance speech he acknowledged the Iranian protesters and Neda by saying, “For the young woman who marches silently for the right to be heard even in the face of beatings and bullets. For the leader who is in prison for her comm itment for democracy”. These are words and in light of what these brave Iranians have sacrificed in their quest for freedom and social justice, words fail to give them enough credit- regardless of who speaks these words.
What is your opinion? What can Obama do differently when it comes to Iran? Do you appreciate his acknowledgment of the Iranian people? SHAREyourVOICE. Comment and start a discussion here @ touchIRAN!

I agree with him.
He does not deserve to be in the company of those who've won in the past. The value of the noble peace prize just went down a lot of notches.
I wish he would just shut his mouth when it comes to pretending to support Iran and the those who are getting beat and shot. The Bush administration had a lot of flaws but at least we knew where he stood. Good job on recognizing Ahmadinaejad as the elected president of Iran and then talking about the courage of the protesters…can you say hypocrite?
I think he was as surprised by the committee's decision as anyone else. He was humble in his acceptance speech and the fact that he acknowledged the situation in Iran was appropriate and safe. It's interesting that this award is reflecting badly on him considering he didn't give himself the award. sure, he hasn't done much of anything concrete to deserve it, but he acknowledges that. I'm sure if he had a say, he would have given the award to someone more deserving. that said, the prize is as much for past contributions as it is for future potential and promise. if he doesn't come through with his promises, he won't be re-elected. he knows that. In my opinion, as far as Iran is concerned, Obama's winning the Nobel Peace Prize can't be a bad thing. Surprising/premature, sure, even to his fans, but negative, probably not.
If the prize could go to the masses of people in Iran who are peacefully demonstrating in the streets, it would have been ideal. but the award can't go to a group, as far as i understand.
anything or anyone who brings international attention to the individuals in iran who are putting themselves in harm's way for the collective good, without endangering them even more, has my support.
